If you will be doing the packing, here are a few tips that will make the job a little easier.
Start with one room at a time. Work in that room until it is finished. Starting multiple projects around the house will only frustrate and overwhelm you. Break the packing up into manageable projects, like off season cloths or books in the study and start with rarely used items. This will give you an idea of how long the process will take. Also, since the items are rarely used it is less likely you are going to need anything from those boxes.

Make sure you have adequate packing materials before you settle down to pack an area. If you have to keep looking for materials, it will slow down the process.
Heavy items should be packed on the bottom of the box and lighter items on the top.
Heavy items should go in smaller boxes and lighter items should go in the larger boxes. Breakable items should never be put on the bottom of a box.
Blank newsprint is available; you do not need to get black smudges all over everything! If you use bubble wrap or packing peanuts remember to recycle them.
Pack a suitcase for each member of the family. Why go through boxes looking for pajamas and toothpaste on your first night in the new house?
Children should have favorite toys, nightlights, storybooks and other familiar items in their suitcase to make the first night a little less stressful.
Make sure you leave the garage remote for the new owner!
